D'Arranged Marriage is a play about Sanjay Gupta, an aspiring New Zealand Indian stand-up comic who spends his life working at his father's corner shop and avoiding the issue of an arranged marriage.  His nagging family finally gets the better of him, but to his surprise he discovers the prospective bride is the one!

Sold out in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Singapore and Malaysia, this one-man tour de force comedy features nine hilarious characters, Bollywood-style dance routines and an irreverent look at love, sex, Indian culture and vegetables.

Anthology Archives is premiering 'Take It!'  as part of its New Filmmakers Series!

This is a recent image from a set where I used my film and digital Nikons for this Subphonik photo shoot. My transition to digital was protracted because my training is in traditional black and white processing. I really dig the way the above image turned out, which was one of the film results. Thought I would share. Don't get it twisted, the digital results were bananas too.

Well Rounded Artists

So I've been working with this group of young people for the last two years at a multimedia arts program in BK. It's an excellent and growing program called Crown Heights Live, where I conduct a hip hop education series. We've taken students through the cultural foundations of music, creative writing, the art of recording and even marketing and promoting a product. The latest installment of the series has produced a four person hip hop group called Well Rounded Artists (W.R.A). In walking them through the steps of this industry process, we had a semi-professional photo shoot shot and creative directed by our genius in residence, Kamau Ware. Good looking fam, you had them thinking they were stars...lol.

This post is long overdue.....

Though I have grown increasingly dissatisfied with the Kings English, many of you know one of my favorite words or expressions is grindin'. I do it and do it often. In fact, I think I am addicted to it. Good or bad, it's who I am. Music being my passion, it represents a large part of my grind and quite frankly I love it.

Friday March 6th is definitely a day to remember on my 'grind milestone' calendar. I had the opportunity to perform at the BLVD, an emerging NYC performance venue. This night was special because it was a true coming out of Chen Lo and my now 8 piece band.

The venue ambience was incredible, the stage was set, my gear had been provided by up and coming designers Brooklyn Renaissance...in a phrase--it was on.

We came out crushing to a crowd of familiar and unfamiliar faces and were even graced by the presence of Duckdown Records label heads Dru-ha and No-ha. I had to give it to them....30 minutes of hip-hop, funk and soul.

I'm firmly embracing the perspective that this is one of the main reasons my spirit was directed to walk the planet at this point in time. So my attitude is not one of cocky conceit, but focused assertiveness. We rocked that ish!

I came across this guy selling t shirts with photos from the 1970s on them. He told me he was the photographer but he went by the name "Con Artist". I can't find him anywhere online though. Hey, dude, if you're out there, send your email and website.
