My shoe game is sputtering back, but it's more the doing of my other half than my own. She asked me my shoe size in our second year and I quickly said, "I don't know". She paused and asked again, "Really, what is your shoe size?". As it dawned on her that I not only didn't shoe shop but didn't know my shoe size because it had been soooo long since I purchased shoes, she was alarmed. "We have a problem", she said. Shoe size ignorance smacked of one grown man who had drifted too far from the footlooker with his so-called consciousness. Fast forward to March 26, 2009, I have officially been placed in shoe rehab.
Living in New York makes being in shoe rehab a little interesting. Many times a day, I come across fresh kicks and notice the stories shoes tell, and I am even more keen on how people use their shoe choices to say something about themselves. I'm far more introverted and inarticulate in this department although I am quite extroverted. I've decided to use my camera and my extroverted nature as part of my rehab and turn this into an art project. I'm going to start walking up to people and getting permission to take pictures of their shoes and build an album on this site. Check back for this photo project/exhibition/rehabilitation. I just have to figure out a name for this exhibit....
